Diogo Jota discusses Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes and weighs in on Darwin Nunez’s start to life on Merseyside

Diogo Jota has admitted that winning the Premier League this season ‘doesn’t seem feasible’ but insists there is still a long way to go in the campaign.

The Liverpool star recently returned from injury and provided an assist in Sunday’s disappointing loss to Arsenal, a result that left the Anfield side 14 points behind the top-place Gunners.

Although Jurgen Klopp’s side are nowhere near where they want to be at the moment, the former Wolves man remains optimistic.

“Well, it’s very difficult to say,” the Portuguese international said (via Liverpoolfc.com). “Obviously last season we didn’t have a similar situation, but we were also way behind.

“There are still many games to play. At the moment it doesn’t seem viable but you never know and obviously tomorrow is a different competition. We are in a good position and tomorrow we can make that position even better, so that’s what we want.”

In the Champions League he thinks it is something better for the Merseysiders.

Following an embarrassing 4-1 loss to Napoli on the first day of the match, the Reds defeated both Ajax and Rangers and sit in second place in Group A.

Sunday’s loss to Arsenal saw Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip and Luis Diaz suffer injuries that will rule them out of tomorrow’s clash with Rangers and beyond.

In the latter’s absence, our number 20 discussed whether he can impress on the left flank in the coming weeks.

“Well, I’m ready to play there, and to play whatever position the coach feels I’m important to the team,” he added. “And as always, as a striker, as a winger, as number 10, I will be 100 percent because that’s how I am. So if I need to play different positions, that’s what I’ll do.”

However, one of the few positive aspects of our trip to the Emirates was seeing Darwin Núñez’s name on the scoreboard again.

Our 27 scored his third goal since arriving from Benfica and was upbeat against Mikel Arteta’s team.

The Uruguayan has struggled since arriving on Merseyside, but Jota is hopeful the striker will impress tomorrow against the Glasgow outfit.

“Well, I think in life you sometimes get over things,” he continued. “Obviously he started very well and people started to think that his adaptation was never a problem, but maybe it took a few more games to get used to that level that he showed us and showed everyone last year.

“And with this run of games he’s having, he’s already scored and I think he’s in a better position and the people in the squad are understanding his game better. So it’s good for everyone and tomorrow there will be more proof of that, I hope.”
