Joao Félix: Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone has said that Joao Félix’s future at the Spanish club does not depend on him amid speculation linking the Portuguese attacker with a move away from the La Liga side in the window of January signings.
Joao Félix has been linked with a departure from Atlético Madrid in the next January transfer window. Several clubs, including the Premier League trio of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, have been linked with a move for the highly-skilled attacker.
The executive president of Atlético de Madrid, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, recently admitted that Joao Félix could leave the club. One of the reasons that the Atlético de Madrid boss cited to suggest that the two parties could separate was the relationship between Félix and coach Diego Simeone.
Joao Félix has played 19 games with Atlético de Madrid in the 22/23 season, but made it to the starting eleven in only 10 of them.

“It doesn’t depend on me” – Diego Simeone addresses the future of Joao Félix at Atlético de Madrid
Speaking after Atlético Madrid defeated Elche 2-0 in a La Liga match, Diego Simeone was adamant that Joao Félix’s future does not depend on him.
“I make my normal comments,” Diego Simeone told reporters when asked to respond to rumors about Joao Félix’s future. “I think of the players who are with me, getting the best out of them for the team and for the club.
“What happens [in the market] It doesn’t depend on me. He played well with [Antoine] Griezmann and [Alvaro] Morata, and gives us options that don’t hurt.”
Diego Simeone also did not confirm if Félix would stay at Atlético de Madrid beyond the January transfer window.
“While I’m here, I’ll try to get the best out of Joao Félix for the club,” said Diego Simeone. “Then we’ll see what’s going to happen.”
For his part, Félix was one of the scorers in Atlético de Madrid’s victory over Elche. The Portuguese international started with Atlético de Madrid against Elche and put his team ahead in the 56th minute of the game.
The victory brings Atlético Madrid’s total points in the 22/23 LaLiga season to 27. He has played 15 games in the Spanish top flight so far this season. They are 10 points behind FC Barcelona, who sit at the top of the table with one game less than Atlético Madrid.
