Deschamps relying on Juventus to regain the best version of Pogba -Juvefc.com

Even before the first kick-off, Juve’s campaign had already been affected by Paul Pogba’s meniscus injury.

The 29-year-old suffered the knock while on tour with the club in the United States, and has yet to play an official match since making his much-anticipated return to Turin in July.

In his absence, Max Allegri’s midfield continues to lack pace and creativity. However, Pogba’s injury is not an exclusive problem for Juventus.

In fact, France coach Didier Deschamps is obviously worried about his charge’s condition.

The former Juventus midfielder and coach hopes his compatriot will return to his best physical condition ahead of the World Cup, to increase his team’s chances of retaining the title.

Deschamps expects Pogba to play as much as possible for Juventus before the mid-season break in November, as it would help the player sharpen his tools.

“Paul’s recovery program is going well, but today it is difficult to give a precise date for his return,” said the former Marseille coach in an interview with Rai Sport via Calciomercato.

“I will have to decide, but at the moment I cannot confirm if it will be ready or not.

“The only condition for Paul to be called up is that he recovers. But then the fact that he hasn’t played in a while could be a problem.

“So I hope that I can play for Juventus as much as possible before the World Cup.

“Pogba’s off-court problems are serious problems. But I’ve talked to him many times and he seems quite composed.

“Paul has a strength of character that allows him to handle these things, no matter how serious they are.”
