Del Mar Picked As 2024 Breeders’ Cup Hosts

The hosts of the 2024 Breeders’ Cup have been announced in Del Mar, California, which will host the world championship horse racing event for the third time.

Races were first held at Del Mar in 1937, but in more recent years the Californian track has been successful.

Since 2017, Del Mar has hosted the Breeders’ Cup twice (2017 and 2021) and the venue will return for more in 2024.

The two-day meeting of the 2024 Del Mar Breeders’ Cup will take place on November 1-2 (Friday/Saturday), and prize money for the San Diego match is likely to exceed $30 million.

The Breeders’ Cup Executive Director said: “We are delighted to announce that the world championships will return to Del Mar next year for what is sure to be an unforgettable two-year run on the West Coast.

“Breeders’ Cup has always been a strong supporter of California racing and we look forward to showcasing this wonderful venue once again to our jockeys and fans around the world.”

It’s California all the way as Santa Anita hosts the 2023 Breeders’ Cup

Before Del Mar passes the Breeders’ Cup relay, Santa Anita will host the 2023 event, which means the next two meetings will be on California’s east coast.

It will be the 11th time that Santa Anita will host the largest horse racing meeting in the United States. They first hosted the Breeders’ Cup in 1986, while the most recent was in 2019.
