Fabrizio Romano has written exclusively for CaughtOffside to provide more insight into Declan Rice’s thinking ahead of a possible summer transfer to Arsenal or another big club.
The West Ham midfielder has been a star player for his club in recent years, while also impressing heavily for the England squad, so it makes sense that a big move is now on the horizon.
Several sources, most recently the Times, have stated that Arsenal appear to be favorites to sign Rice at the moment, but Romano says the key things for the 24-year-old will be playing regularly and linking up with a good project at the who can win big trophies.
Of late, the Gunners surely wouldn’t have been serious candidates for a signing like Rice, but their terrific improvement under Mikel Arteta now sees them five points clear of Manchester City in the Premier League title race, with football from the Champions League and possibly trophies now. he will surely return to the Emirates Stadium after a difficult few years.
Rice is likely to play regularly for Arsenal and should find the right project for him too, so the north London giants could fit the bill for Hammers’ ace, if Romano’s words are anything to go by.
“I was told that Declan Rice has a very, very good chance of leaving in the summer,” Romano said.
“The project at his next club is absolutely crucial for Rice, he wants to win trophies and feel like an important player, he doesn’t want a big club and then just sit on the bench…he wants to be an important player.
