Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne is hoping Liverpool will be back at their best when the two teams meet in their next Premier League game.
Liverpool have made a sub-par start to the 22/23 Premier League season. They languish in 11th place in the Premier League points table with 10 points from their first eight games in the league this season.
Liverpool have two wins, two losses and four draws in the eight games they have played so far in the English top flight this season. That leaves them 14 points behind Arsenal, who have 24 points from nine games. But Jurgen Klopp’s men have a game on their hands.
They will then take on Man City, who have made a stellar start to the season and are unbeaten in the league so far in the 22/23 campaign.
Kevin de Bruyne expects Liverpool to be their best version against Man City
De Bruyne said he hopes Liverpool will be the best version of themselves when they take on Man City. “I hope they are the best Liverpool they can be,” the Man City midfielder said before the match.
He added: “Obviously they’ve dropped some points but they’re still Liverpool and I hope they’re good, that’s the only way I see it.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool come into the game following their 7-1 thrashing of Rangers in their previous Champions League game. The Reds faced the Scottish side with Mohamed Salah leading from the edge with a hat-trick.
Roberto Firmino scored a brace, while Harvey Elliot and Darwin Núñez also scored a goal each for the Reds against the Rangers.
Meanwhile, Man City come into the match after their disappointing draw against Copenhagen in their previous Champions League game. Man City faced the Danish team in an away game and shared points after playing out a 0-0 draw.
However, Man City’s record in the Premier League this season has been impressive. They have 23 points in their first nine games. They have seven wins and two draws in the League so far this season.
Man City is just one point behind Arsenal, leader of the table. His aim will be to win all three points and keep the pressure on Arsenal in the race for the Premier League title.
Meanwhile, Liverpool will be looking to narrow the gap between the defending champions with three points.
