West Ham boss David Moyes is reportedly against the idea of playing pre-season games abroad, but Hammers owners are keen on the idea, West Ham’s ExWHUEmployee reports.
According to previous reports, there is a strong possibility that some of next summer’s games will be played in the United States for commercial reasons and Moyes is not happy with the plans.
“So the situation with West Ham, I followed it today to see where we are. Now the club, the owners, the president, etc., it seems like a good idea.
“I think it’s a great idea to raise the profile of the club within the United States and obviously there will be financial benefits to doing that as well. But David Moyes is very much against long-distance pre-season tours, which is why he never visited the Australian tour again, much to his disappointment and mine.
Moyes clearly doesn’t want players to experience fatigue before the season and is adamant about completing preseason closer to home.
“Y [that is] why we are unlikely to go. The club wants to leave but in the end, and rightly so, that decision is up to the coach. And as I said earlier, the manager doesn’t like long-distance foreign travel.
“So it depends on whether he can be persuaded that financially it is the best for the club, or whether he will stand firm and say that physically it is not the best for the players.”
