Spain vs Morocco: David de Gea shared Manchester United’s Instagram post in which he appears on his Instagram story minutes after Morocco eliminated the Spanish soccer team from the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Spain lost in a penalty shootout to Morocco in the round of 16 of the 2022 FIFA World Cup after Spain vs Morocco drew scoreless in regulation time and extra time.

Spain, which qualified for the round of 16 after finishing second in Group E, missed all three of its penalties in the Spain-Morocco penalty shootout. It was Pablo Sarbia, Carlos Soler and Sergio Busquets who took the penalties for Spain in the Spain vs Morocco penalty shootout. While Sarabia hit the post from the penalty spot, Soler and Busquets saw their shots saved by the imposing Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.

The African team converted their first two kicks in the penalty shootout before Unai Simon saved the third. However, Achraf Hakimi, taking his fourth shot, sealed his place at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and confirmed Spain’s exit from the quadrennial event.

David de Gea was not named in Spain’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Manchester United goalkeeper was not called up for Spain’s squad for the latest edition of FIFA’s flagship event.

Spain coach Luis Enrique has named three goalkeepers in the country’s 2022 FIFA World Cup squad. Those three were Athletic Bilbao’s Unai Simon, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Robert Sánchez and Brentford’s David Raya.

David de Gea has not played for Spain since October 2020 and therefore his exclusion from his squad for the Qatar 2022 World Cup did not come as a surprise to many.

Or, as some speculate, it could be a subtle hint from the Manchester United goalkeeper, who has impressed with the Red Devils in the 22/23 season, to Spain for not naming him in the squad for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
