Cyrus Pattinson Indicates That Eye Injury Has Ruled Him Out of Conah Walker Rematch

Cyrus Pattinson has been ruled out of his rematch with Conah Walker after suffering an eye injury during training.

The 10-round welterweight bout was due to headline Matchroom’s NXTGEN card in Newcastle on February 10, but in a now-deleted tweet, Pattinson said:

“Two weeks before Christmas I came out of a sparring session with double vision. After 6 hours in the RVI, the results of a CT scan showed bleeding from trauma behind my right eye. After 5 weeks wearing a patch, unable to train and with no signs of improvement, I was pulled from my next fight on February 10.”

Pattinson (6-1, 4 KOs) has become one of the most exciting fighters in British boxing over the past year. He emerged victorious after engaging in a war with former British champion Chris Jenkins in March, but in August, an inspired Walker (12-2-1, 4 KOs) proved too strong and relentless and knocked down Pattinson three times. , forcing his corner to retire him after eight violent rounds. It was a shocking loss, but Pattinson seemed determined to get revenge.

The 29-year-old had begun preparations for the rematch when the injury occurred, but the health of his damaged eye must now take priority.
