Cristiano Ronaldo might be looking for a January exit – Man United News And Transfer News

The new season started in disastrous fashion for Manchester United with back-to-back defeats at the hands of Brighton and Brentford as the team conceded six goals.

Since then, Erik ten Hag has turned the club’s fortunes around with four wins in a row, a run that includes the scalps of arch-rivals Liverpool and current table leaders Arsenal.

Even on the road, United have held their own, beating both Leicester City and Southampton and keeping a clean sheet.

That run came to a halt on Thursday when United lost at home to Real Sociedad in their first Europa League game, albeit in controversial circumstances.

The Dutch boss has managed to get a tune out of most players with the notable exception of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese has not yet opened his account for the season.

No 7 United have started just once in the league and that coincided with a 0-4 loss at the hands of the Bees. His next start was against Sociedad and it also ended in defeat.

CR7 on the move in January?

The 37-year-old had missed pre-season and appears to be off the pace and lacking in sharpness in games. Having wanted to leave the club and join a Champions League club, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has to fight for his place in the starting eleven.

And that has made the rumor mill already start to guess if the former Real Madrid star will be on his way in the January window.

According to the journalist All Transfers, with Thomas Tuchel out of Chelsea, the London team could be willing to try it one more time in winter.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has stated that for now they have more pressing matters such as the appointment of a new sporting director. But Todd Boehly is still a fan of Ronaldo.

“Todd Boehly wanted Cristiano Ronaldo, but Thomas Tuchel was very clear on more than one occasion that he had no intention of going after Cristiano Ronaldo.

“They offered him to Chelsea, but also to Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid,” Romano wrote in his Caught Out of Play column.

The Portugal captain is focusing on regaining his place in the starting line-up for now and has been 100% professional during training in a bid to impress the Dutch coach.
