Cristiano Ronaldo dropped, Raphael Varane returns: Predicted man United XI vs Newcastle United – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have reported no further injury problems so far after last night’s unimpressive win over Omonia Nicosia in the Champions League.

The quality of the opposition will level up at Old Trafford on Sunday when the Red Devils host Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Last night’s hero, Scott McTominay, will be unavailable for the match as he is serving a suspension for accumulating five yellow cards.

Harry Maguire, Donny van de Beek, Brandon Williams and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are still out, but there is a chance Anthony Martial could be available.

Trainer Erik ten Hag has some key spot battles on his side now, which is a good deal.

In the center of defense, the question is whether to keep Victor Lindelof, who has been solid alongside Lisandro Martinez, or bring in Raphael Varane. We predict the Frenchman will get the nod, but he could go either way.

The left-back spot is also interesting, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia battling it out. Malacia started yesterday but was pulled early, so in his current form we think Shaw will be back in the starting eleven on Sunday.

It is almost certain that David de Gea and Diogo Dalot will start.

The midfield is easier to predict. With McTominay suspended, Casemiro will likely start and Fred will likely make way for Christian Eriksen after he was rested last night.

Bruno Fernandes will remain in 10th place despite a poor showing against Omonia.

This leaves the wing and center forward positions and again, there is competition for places. Assuming Martial isn’t fit enough to start, the question is whether Ten Hag will keep faith with Cristiano Ronaldo up front or if he will slot the more mobile Marcus Rashford into the centre-forward position.

Rashford was extremely wasteful in front of goal against Omonia, but Ronaldo’s movement was also a problem. We have opted for Rashford, with Jadon Sancho reinstated on the left flank and Antony on the right.

With all of that in mind, here is our predicted XI for Sunday’s match:
