Antonio Conte took part in his first Champions League press conference as Tottenham manager today and was asked an important question by a reporter.
The Italian coach was assailed by the question: “Do you think it’s true that Italian coaches look first to the league title?”. [over the Champions League].
The Spurs manager proceeded to respond with the clever answer: “No, I don’t think so, because we have Carlo Ancelotti, right?”
The Real Madrid manager has won four Champions League titles throughout his managerial career, including last year’s edition of the competition, and is the most successful Italian manager in the competition’s history.
Three of the seven most successful winning coaches in the tournament are Italian, so the theory doesn’t really hold much ground, but Conte answered the question better.
