Connor Coyle sets up ‘Big Domestic Fight’ with Florida Win

Connor Coyle sailed past a potential banana skin to put on a big fight last night.

The middleweight from Derry defeated Silverio Ortiz on the Tampa Beatdown card at the Alessi Gym in Tampa, Florida to maintain his undefeated status.

The experienced Mexican put up a stubborn fight and took ‘The Kid’ the distance in a relatively one-sided fight.

The 32-year-old world-ranked boxer is scheduled to defend his recently acquired NABA title against Argentina’s Wenceslao Mansilla in Lowell in October, but when he spoke to Irish-boxing.com recently he hinted that something bigger could be next.

“I think the big fights are here now, after this fight this weekend we will have a big fight,” he told Irish-boxing.com before adding “Domestic fight, UK” when more was demanded of him.

In fact, Irish-boxing.com understands that a fight with a British middleweight could be confirmed this week.

Coyle improves to 17-0 with the win and his Mexican opponent slips to 37-32.
