Confirmed: Manchester United draw Charlton Athletic in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have tied Charlton Athletic in the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup.

United will host the League One club at Old Trafford.

Prior to the draw, United’s potential opponents were Charlton Athletic, Leicester City, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, Southampton, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester City following their win against Liverpool.

To reach the semi-finals of the competition, United will first have to go through Charlton.

The quarterfinals will take place during the week beginning January 9, 2023.

If the Red Devils advance from the quarterfinals and advance to the semifinals, the first leg of this round will take place during the week beginning January 23.

The second leg will take place during the week beginning January 30 before the final clash of the two teams on February 26.

United’s draw against Charlton follows their win last night against Vincent Kompany’s Burnley.

United beat Championship opposition by two goals to nil.

The Red Devils got their goals through Christian Eriksen and Marcus Rashford, who was sublime that night.

Against League One opposition, Ten Hag will likely be able to enlist the services of some of his first-team stars who missed the game against the Clarets.

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martínez will be available if fit, as will Diogo Dalot. Martínez and Varane missed the game against Burnley because of their participation in the World Cup final.

Dalot suffered an injury while playing for Portugal and Ten Hag is hopeful of having him back for the quarterfinals.

Certainly both Ten Hag and the team and fans will be delighted with the draw. Charlton were the only non-Premier League team in the draw and United will enjoy the favorable draw and their chances of continuing.
