Cody Gakpo confirms he’ll “think about” Manchester United if they come calling – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United and Erik ten Hag’s target striker Cody Gakpo has confirmed that he will consider a move to Old Trafford if the opportunity arises.

Gakpo has become Ten Hag’s priority as they search for a reliable goalscorer to come in and lead the team’s line.

The situation is now dire after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, and the only other recognized striker left in the ranks is Anthony Martial.

The Frenchman’s string of injuries this season has made him more than a little unreliable, hence the constant links with Gakpo.

The PSV Eindhoven striker is enjoying a fantastic World Cup campaign, showing the United hierarchy what he can do in the Theater of Dreams.

The striker has so far racked up three goals and will undoubtedly be the most dangerous man in the Netherlands when they face Argentina in the quarter-finals.

The 23-year-old spoke to Dutch media outlet NRC ahead of the decisive tie and was asked about United’s interest in him.

He responded by saying, “I thought about Manchester United, but when that didn’t happen, I couldn’t remember.”

“I started to doubt. Leeds United arrived. Should I go there?

“Now I hope (for) everything. I haven’t heard from Manchester United yet. If they come, I’ll think about it. I also seek God’s help in these decisions.”

Gakpo added that when a potential move to United fell through in the summer, he went through a difficult period and doubted himself.

He reiterated that this time he would do things differently to make sure he put himself in the best possible situation.
