Chelsea haven’t been wasting any time in the slightest this January transfer window, and the speed with which they’ve been doing this huge team rebuild has amazed everyone, especially me!
I have been absolutely amazed at how quickly Chelsea are rebuilding this team, at least in terms of arrivals.
Obviously, spending will need to be worked on next, as well as other actions to stay on top of FFP, but it looks like most of that will happen in the summer now. But in terms of building a new super team, we’re very close to having it now, and January has been absolutely crazy for us.
The new owners and recruitment team have been relentless in bringing in top quality new signings and I am very impressed with this. As I’ve said from day one and will continue to say, I’d never be completely happy until/unless we headed into midfield, but it looks like we may or may not finally do that in these last two days of the window with a Strong onslaught for Enzo. Fernández del Benfica once again.
IF we pull this off, it will be THE best transfer window of any club in football history, hands down.
IF we are done with Enzo, our rebuild will be close to completion. In the summer we would just have to add for me, a goalkeeper, another central midfielder and potentially a true number 9. Then we are set for years and can move to sustainable recruiting, buy to replace and buy smart.
I’m convinced this team could at least put in a decent push for the UCL places, and especially considering the depth we’d still have and the injured players coming back. I’m not saying Enzo will take us to the UCL, but he certainly gives us a better chance and I wouldn’t bet against this team changing in the second half of the season.
I am excited about this rebuild and fully support the owners for doing it at this speed, a speed I never imagined, and I don’t think anyone else has.
