Chelsea will surely have to sell some homegrown players – Talk Chelsea

Chelsea could still face financial Fair Play issues this summer if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, and there have been some reports to suggest that the club is planning a sale which could involve selling some local players to boost their FFP position. .

The sale of homegrown players from the Chelsea academy does wonders for FFP. This is because these players haven’t cost Chelsea a penny, and then when they sell them for a fee, that goes right back into the revenue.

For example, if Chelsea sell a Conor Gallagher this summer for, say, £40m, that all goes directly into our profit margins because it didn’t cost us a penny to begin with.

So it’s inevitable that Chelsea will look to sell one or two homegrown players this summer, but only players who will be looking to move.

Of course, there is the problem with the Mason Mount contract at the moment and there is a possibility that a conclusion will not be reached here. If it’s not reached, I can see Chelsea trying to sell this summer to avoid losing him on the loose.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is currently on loan at Bayer Leverkusen and things have not gone very well there. He is one that could be put up for sale in the summer for a nice profit.

I see other players like Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Trevoh Chalobah and the aforementioned Conor Gallagher considering moving in the summer.

None of them are going to be regular starters when we have a fully fit squad, and you can’t blame them for wanting to go play normal football. They could all do a fantastic job at a different club where they play more.

Chelsea could get some decent fees for the previous players, which will help with FFP. But hopefully the right decisions are made in the future, and in my opinion, we just have to get Mount to sign an extension.
