The Chelsea midfielder’s agent, Jorginho, has confirmed that the Blues have made a contract renewal proposal to extend the Italian star’s stay at Stamford Bridge.
Jorginho will enter the last six months of his current contract with Chelsea at the beginning of next year. The Italian midfielder’s current contract with Chelsea expires at the end of June 2023. Jorginho could talk to clubs outside England from January on a possible deal.
Chelsea risk losing Jorginho on a free transfer if the two parties fail to reach an agreement on the renewal of his contract.
Jorginho’s agent, Joao Santos, has confirmed that Chelsea have made a contract renewal proposal for the Italian midfielder. Santos also insisted that they prioritize a contract extension at Chelsea over other possible options.

“We have a renewal proposal and we give priority to Chelsea,” Joao Santos told TMW.
However, Chelsea and Jorginho have not yet reached an agreement on a new contract. 90min reports that it is still not close to reaching a contract renewal agreement.
Jorginho has also been linked with a move away from Chelsea in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Chelsea are reportedly looking to bolster their team.
The Blues are reportedly interested in the services of Benfica and Argentina national soccer team midfielder Enzo Fernandez. The Argentine midfielder has attracted transfer interest from several top European clubs following his impressive performance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
He was part of the Argentina soccer team that participated in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Enzo Fernández impressed for Argentina when the South American heavyweights won the title at Qatar 2022.
Enzo Fernández also won the tournament’s best young player award at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Meanwhile, Jorginho’s agent also confirmed that Napoli have not had contact with them about a possible move for their former star.
“Napoli represented our home in Italy. If there was a new interest, we would be happy, but for the moment, Napoli has not had contact with us”, added Joao Santos.
Chelsea signed Jorginho from Napoli in the 2018 summer transfer window. He has been playing for the Premier League side ever since.
