English Premier League giants Chelsea have developed a keen interest in Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, who is soon to be released.
After spending time at various academies, including Manchester City’s, French midfielder Adrien Rabiot joined Paris Saint-Germain’s youth setup.
He then graduated from the PSG academy and was promoted to the main team. Shortly after his promotion, Rabiot was loaned out to Toulouse for more first-team opportunities. At the end of his loan spell, he returned to PSG and became a very important member of the club.
Adrien Rabion managed to win eighteen major titles with PSG. This also includes five Ligue 1 titles. Rabiot left Paris in 2019 to join Serie A giants Juventus. The Juventus midfielder represents France in international football. Rabiot was part of the French team that lifted the 2021 UEFA Nations League.
Chelsea wants to offer Juventus an exchange deal
According to a report by Italian outlet Gazzetta, Chelsea are interested in signing French international Adrien Rabiot from Juventus.
Chelsea may lose at least two midfielders at the end of the season. Italian midfielder Jorginho’s contract will end next season. Jorginho currently wants a salary of 8-9 million euros after the renewal of him. Meanwhile, Chelsea would only give him 6 million euros.
Hence, the Italian is looking at other options. La Liga giants Barcelona and defending Ligue 1 champions PSG are among the clubs currently interested in the Italian international.
A long-time servant, N’Golo Kante’s contract will expire at the end of the season. His past injury problems and salary demands have made Chelsea’s management reconsider giving him an extension.
So Graham Potter’s team is already looking for several central midfielders. Despite a slow start to his Juventus career, Adrien Rabiot has been one of the Bianconeri’s best players this season.
His contract will expire at the end of the season and due to the economic problems of Juventus, it seems difficult that they can sign him again. So Chelsea have given them a way out of this situation.
According to Calciomercato, the Blues may offer Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech in exchange for Adrien Rabiot. They want to close the deal in the winter transfer window.
Although losing Rabiot may be a big deal for Juventus, they will get the creativity from Ziyech, something they have been lacking this season. Allegri’s side have plenty of midfield options that can take Rabiot’s place. So if they accept this deal, it could be good for Juventus.
