Injury FC strikes Chelsea again, and Armando Broja joins the long list of many of Chelsea’s best players who have had the worst luck with serious injuries in recent seasons.
I am absolutely devastated for Broja, who is expected to miss the rest of the season at least after injuring his ACL in a friendly against Aston Villa on Sunday.
I think we all knew exactly what had happened and feared the worst when he fell into agony screaming and clutching his knee after facing a challenge. Absolutely gutted for him and wish him a speedy recovery.
Armando Broja is expected to be out for the season with a torn ACL after picking up the injury in the friendly with Aston Villa. A setback for Chelsea who may consider signing a striker in January. More on @standardsport https://t.co/QCXSGSSh9H #CFC

However, the worst-case scenario means he could now be out for 12 months, and that means Chelsea must react in January and sign a replacement. We are already short of true number 9 type forwards and options to play there even before Broja was injured, and Chelsea had already been linked with a number of new forwards. So this must accelerate those thoughts even more now and we must sign a new striker in January.
Who, you might ask? Well, that’s for our scouting and recruiting department to get to work. But we will have to take a look and sign a new striker who can play 9, in my humble opinion.
This is bad news and lucky for Broja, who had just signed a new long-term contract at Chelsea and was fighting for a regular starting job. His progression will now stall, but he still has the youth on his side and will return.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will have to put themselves first and recruit here and now in the January transfer market.
