Potter says all the blame for their injury history shouldn’t be put on luck and believes it’s an area where they can improve.

“I don’t think you should blame everything on luck, that’s for sure. I think we can take a look and see what we can do better. Obviously I’ve been here a few weeks so I don’t have the full answers. But clearly, we always want to try to improve and that’s an area we can probably improve on,” Potter said.

The West London side currently have three players out of action due to injuries. Kante suffered an injury during Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur in their second game of the 22/23 Premier League season.

He has not played since and suffered a setback in training while recovering from an injury that could further delay his comeback. According to ESPN, Kante has been ruled out for another three months, which would see him miss the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Meanwhile, James suffered an injury in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over AC Milan in the Champions League group stage. He has suffered a knee injury and has raised concerns ahead of the upcoming World Cup.

It is unclear at this time when James might return to action and Chelsea manager Potter has confirmed that the England international is due to see a specialist over the weekend.

Meanwhile, Fofana suffered an injury during Chelsea’s 3–0 win over AC Milan in the Champions League group stage. However, his knee injury is not as serious as feared and he could return from a spell in ‘a few weeks’.

Chelsea face Aston Villa next

Meanwhile, Chelsea take on Aston Villa in an away game in the Premier League in their next game. The Blues come into the game following their 2-0 victory over Milan.

The West Londoners now have four wins from five games since Potter became the club’s manager. Chelsea drew 1-1 at RB Salzburg in their first game since Potter took over but have won in all four of the games he has played since then.

The Blues currently sit fourth in the Premier League points table with 16 points from eight games. They are eight points behind leaders Arsenal, but Potter’s men have a game to play.
