Chelsea keen to strike deal with former Liverpool man for next season

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is keen to add a director of football to his squad and is now eyeing former Liverpool player Michael Edwards, according to 90min.

Boehly has already had talks with Victor Orta, but Leeds fans can now breathe a sigh of relief as Michael Edwards is leading the race for the job.

Chelsea are looking to strike a deal that will see Edwards join the London club on July 1.

Finding the right profile is much easier said than done and losing Orta would require a major behind-the-scenes shakeup.

Orta is familiar with the expectations of the club and gets on well with the owners and general manager Angus Kinnear.
