It now seems very likely that Graham Potter will be Chelsea’s next manager, and he is expected to be announced later today.
Of course, emotions are still alive after the shocking dismissal of Thomas Tuchel, which none of us blues fans regret. Tuchel will be adored and loved by Chelsea fans around the world and his legacy at the club will live on in our hearts.
But there’s a lot of pent up anger, understandably, and I see some of it spilling over to Potter. I’m upset about what happened too, but right now, aside from making our views heard, the best we can do is back Potter IF he’s appointed, rather than charge him.
He didn’t fire Tuchel, this is not his fault. This is exactly what I felt when Frank Lampard, who I also adore, was sacked and replaced by Thomas Tuchel almost two years earlier.
Potter is a great manager and I think there should be an element of excitement among Chelsea fans to see our team managed by him. But I totally understand the anger and upset right now. I’m just encouraging people not to direct it at Potter, and we just have to remember that we have a game to play on Saturday and we really need to win!
Tuchel has done a lot of good at this club, and he will always be honored by me and respected for that. Potter is the new man who will be in charge, whether we agree or not. He is out of our hands now.
