Chelsea and Liverpool appear to be missing out on young Kyle Midwood from Sheffield United with Manchester City agreeing a deal.
The best clubs in the Premier League will spend millions of pounds a year developing their own youngsters in the hope that one day they will be ready for the first team.
However, they also scout the world to try and recruit young talent from other clubs, and Manchester City have used this strategy effectively in recent years.
Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have beaten Liverpool and Chelsea, among others, over the signing of Sheffield United’s 15-year-old Midwood.

Midwood may have looked at the career paths of the likes of Phil Foden to influence his decision. Pep Guardiola handled Foden to perfection, keeping him at the club rather than sending him out on loan, and now he’s reaping the rewards.
Undoubtedly, getting to Foden’s level will be next to impossible, but playing for a club like Manchester City will give him the best opportunity to fulfill his potential.
