Manchester United beat Bournemouth at Old Trafford tonight as the Red Devils extended their perfect run since club football resumed after the World Cup.
What ultimately turned out to be a comfortable victory for United now leaves the club still in fourth position, but now level on points with Newcastle.
Newcastle’s deadlock with Arsenal means that if United win their match, they will be ahead of the Magpies in the league table.
United’s goals came via Casemiro, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford.
Casemiro was again brilliant in his central defensive midfielder role, where he protected the back four well.
Beyond his goal, the Brazilian executed his responsibilities admirably and patrolled the middle of the park to great effect as the Reds rioted against Gary O’Neil’s men.
Casemiro had a pass accuracy of 84%.
The 30-year-old recorded 70 touches of the ball in what was a complete and complete performance from him against the Cherries.
The midfielder successfully netted four of the five long balls he attempted to deliver to his teammates in what was an excellent display of his technical ability and incredible passing range.
Casemiro won three duels on land.
It created a great opportunity. He also completed a dribble and successfully delivered a cross.
It was fitting, therefore, that Casemiro capped off his stellar performance of the evening with a superb finish near the post after receiving a fine cross from Christian Eriksen.
