Carlo Nicolini insists Juventus has just missed out on a great managerJuvefc.com

Shakhtar Donetsk manager Carlo Nicolini has revealed that he recommended new Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi to Juventus.

The Bianconeri could fire Max Allegri as his side continue to struggle this campaign, and there are only a few names they could name as his replacement.

De Zerbi has become one of Italy’s few attacking coaches.

He did a good job at Sassuolo before heading to Shakhtar, where his spell was broken by the Russian invasion of Ukriane.

He has now been appointed as the new manager of Premier League club Brighton.

However, Nicolini says he recommended him to Juve and they rejected his advice.

He said, as quoted by Football Italia:

“There has been no official request. I also suggested De Zerbi to Juventus, but then Brighton came up with an important project.

The Bianconeri wasted a great opportunity, it would have been the right time to sign him.”

Juve FC says

De Zerbi’s Sassuolo were an exciting team to watch, and seem to have a knack for developing young players.

However, that is not a skill particularly valued by Juve executives above experience.

At Brighton, you wouldn’t expect him to win trophies, but that would be different at Juve.
