Carlo Ancelotti provides three-man injury update for Real Madrid

Liverpool and Real Madrid are getting quite used to facing each other now and ahead of a big game at Anfield, Carlo Ancelotti spoke to the press and provided an injury update for his squad.

About Karim Benzema, the 63-year-old spoke to the media (via his club’s official website) and said: “He looks in good shape and will start the match. He and all of us are looking forward to getting this next stage of the Champions League underway. The memory of last year is still fresh in our minds.”

Speaking about his fitness issues in midfield, the Italian said: “We are still in transition, but this is a forced transition that we didn’t expect. It has happened now and we have to get used to it. However, I am not worried because we have seen ourselves very well with the guys who have come on for Tchouameni or Kroos. We have a lot of faith in the squad.”

The news that the reigning Ballon d’Or holder is fit comes as something of a shock, as we can expect the 35-year-old to provide a tough test for our defense on the night.

However, also having to reconfirm that both Aurelien Tchouameni and Toni Kroos will be absent in Merseyside is something that will be welcomed by our fans.

The only concern is that we are still ready to take on the likes of Luka Modric, Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde, so it certainly won’t be an easy walk for our trio of midfielders.

Jurgen Klopp also has his fair share of injury concerns as Thiago Alcántara, Luis Díaz and Ibou Konate are three men who started in Paris, but all men are out for us.

It’s going to be a great game for the Reds and we hope a big lead can be built before our trip to the Bernabeu in three weeks.
