Capello defends Allegri but expects much more from JuventusJuvefc.com

Fabio Capello insists Juventus are still as close to the top of the Serie A table as they can get, but he knows they need to do better.

Juve have two wins and three draws from their first five league games of the season.

The Bianconeri finished last campaign without winning a single trophy and they would be desperate to turn that around at the end of this term.

They have work to do to achieve it, and they have started it in this campaign.

Juve have dropped points against Sampdoria, AS Roma and Fiorentina in the opening weeks of the term and must do more to achieve success, but Capello says they are still close to reaching the top.

He said, quoted by Il Bianconero:

“I looked at the standings, with all the criticism he’s getting, he’s still two points off first place. Think if he played well. It is a team to build, there are no important players that make a difference. Allegri does not have the available players yet.

“Juve can’t play like that: they played a good first half, McKennie had a chance to score and then they conceded. Allegri has to do something else. “

Juve FC says

We haven’t started this season as quickly as we should have, but there’s no need to panic just yet.

There are still 33 league games left and we will surely win more.

However, we could also continue to underperform until the end of the year if we don’t work on the issues that prevent us from killing teams.
