Canelo Alvarez Vs.Gennadiy Golovkin Face-off At Grand Arrival In Las Vegas

By Sean Jones: An angry-looking Canelo Alvarez met challenger Gennadiy Golovkin to face off today in his grand arrivals in Las Vegas for their trilogy match this Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena.

Canelo (57-2-2, 39 KOs) walked up to his old nemesis Golovkin onstage, looking like he wanted to hit him with an overhand right hand the same way he did in the opening seconds of their 2018 rematch.

The way Golovkin’s feline reflexes were primed, you could tell he was ready for anything from Canelo. After all, we all remember how Canelo pushed Caleb Plant across the stage during their confrontation and then knocked his sunglasses off his head, causing an abrasion.

With that kind of track record, it’s no surprise that Golovkin seemed ready to block Canelo’s fire. Mexican star Canelo, 32, is still bummed about some mild comments Golovkin made about him in the past.

Rather than forget it as a mature adult, Canelo has been getting angry and is talking about wanting to knock out the 40-year-old Golovkin and stand on him in victory. Canelo also said that he wants this to be Golovkin’s last fight, as he wants to take him into retirement.

“Definitely in the US The Billy Joe Saunders [vs. Canelo Alvarez fight] it was massive with 74,000 people, but this fight, a trilogy between two icons in the modern generation of boxing,” Eddie Hearn told iFL TV about today’s big arrival in Las Vegas between Canelo Alvarez and Gennadiy Golovkin.

“You could see from the turnout here; she’s going to be absolutely mental at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday. I think we’re going to have an amazing fight. I think it’s an amazing card from top to bottom, and they’re going to meet in 20 minutes here.

“It is not a day that goes by without aggravation and something is wrong in boxing. But every once in a while, you have to pinch yourself and say, ‘We’re in the lobby of the MGM Grand and I’m promoting Canelo vs. Golovkin III with our amazing Matchroom Boxing team. We are just a small company from Essex taking over the boxing world. We should make the most of every second of this week,” Hearn said.
