Cameroon announced their squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup

Cameroon will be participating in their eighth FIFA World Cup, a record number of appearances for an African nation. Their best performance in the tournament dates back to 1990 when they managed to reach the quarter-finals.

The Lions will start their campaign in Group G alongside Brazil, Serbia and Switzerland. They have officially announced their team for the tournament on Wednesday.

Cameroon’s squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Devis Epassy (Abha), Simon Ngapandouetnbu (Marseille), Andre Onana (Inter Milan).

Andre Onana has been a consistent performer for Cameroon since making his debut in 2016. He has represented his nation 32 times so far and is likely to keep the gloves for the Lions in Qatar.

Defenders: Jean-Charles Castelletto (Nantes), Enzo Ebosse (Udinese), Collins Fai (Al Tai), Olivier Mbaizo (Philadelphia Union), Nicolas Nkoulou (Aris Salonika), Tolo Nouhou (Seattle Sounders), Christopher Wooh (Stade Rennes) .

Nicolas Nkoulou will have the enormous task of organizing Cameroon’s defensive unit in Qatar. Other than that, Jean-Charles Castelletto and Christopher Wooh are talented defenders and could turn heads with their performances.

Midfielders: Martin Hongla (Verona), Pierre Kunde (Olympiakos), Olivier Ntcham (Swansea City), Gael Ondoua (Hannover 96), Samuel Oum Gouet (Mechelen), Andre-Frank Zambo (Napoli).

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa has been excellent for Napoli this season and will play a key role for the Lions in Qatar. It would be intriguing to see who Toni Conceição will partner with during the tournament.

Forwards: Vincent Aboubakar (Al Nassr), Christian Bassogog (Shanghai Shenhua), Eric-Maxime Choupo Moting (Bayern Munich), Souaibou Marou (Cotton Sport), Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford), Nicolas Moumi Ngamaleu (Young Boys Bern) and Jerome Ngom (Colombe Dja), Georges-Kevin Nkoudou (Besiktas), Jean-Pierre Nsame (Young Boys Bern), Karl Toko Ekambi (Olympique Lyonnais).

Eric-Maxime Choupo Moting has scored five goals in nine Bundesliga games for Bayern Munich this season. Toni Conceição hopes his star striker will continue his great form in Qatar.

Cameroon Key Players

Vincent Aboubakar – The 30-year-old attacker has been in excellent goalscoring form for Cameroon this year. He has scored eight goals in 12 appearances for the Lions in 2022.

Eric-Maxime Choupo Moting: The 33-year-old attacker has established himself among Bayern Munich’s key players this season. Movement form will play a key role for the African nation during the tournament.
