Caicedo focused on Brighton as trio swarm to sign the star

Brighton & Hove midfielder Moises Caicedo has stated that he is focused on his current club despite being linked with a move away from the south coast. The 21-year-old central midfielder made the comments during an interview on Tuesday with the team’s official website.

“I have been focused on doing things very well and being up there fighting for a good position,” said Caicedo. Brighton are currently in contention for a place in Europe in sixth place with a game or two in hand over many of their rivals.

“I am focused on Brighton. I’m here, I’m playing every day. The things outside do not bother me, nor do they take away my focus because I am focused only on here. i do [the speculation] all right. You hear rumors here and there, but I just try to focus on the club.”

Brighton already rejected a $67 million offer for Moisés Caicedo

Caicedo joined the Gaviotas in 2021 from Ecuadorian Independiente for around $5 million. The Premier League club recently turned down a $67 million offer from Chelsea during the January transfer window. Brighton are in no rush to sell their star and will hold their own for the right price.

The team’s head coach Roberto De Zerbi recently praised Caicedo and stated his wishes for the midfielder to remain at the club. “Caicedo is very important to us. I hope he ends the season with us,” De Zerbi said.

“It’s always hard to be sure, but when the big teams love our players it’s good news for us. The best solution is to finish the season with us. If he continues to play like this in the last few games, it is possible that he could go to another team in the summer.”

Three PL clubs are fighting for a midfielder

Along with Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool would also be interested in Caicedo. The Premier League leaders have already signed Leandro Trossard from Brighton, but they could need reinforcements in central midfield. Despite having a clearly talented team, the Gunners could use a bit more depth.

Although Caicedo has confirmed that he is concentrating on his current club, the midfielder has recently changed agents. The move has fueled speculation that he is looking to move away from Brighton. However, the Ecuadorian international will cost a pretty penny if he leaves the south coast this month.
