Brazil Retain First Place in Latest FIFA Men’s Ranking

The Brazil national soccer team retained the top position in the latest FIFA men’s ranking, while the Argentina national soccer team, which won the 2022 FIFA World Cup title, moved up to second place.

In the latest FIFA men’s ranking published after the 2022 FIFA World Cup concluded, Brazil remains on top despite their quarter-final loss to Croatia at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Brazil, which was among the favorites to lift the 2022 FIFA World Cup title, was knocked out of the competition by Croatia in the quarterfinals. Croatia defeated Brazil in a penalty shootout after the match was tied at the end of regulation time and extra time.

It was Argentina who lifted the FIFA World Cup title in Qatar 2022. The South American heavyweights defeated France in a penalty shootout to win their third FIFA World Cup title. Argentina was in third place in the previous ranking and has now improved one position in the last ranking.

France, who had entered the 2022 FIFA World Cup as defending champions, moved up to third from their previous ranking of fourth.

Meanwhile, Belgium, which endured a disappointing 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign, slipped to fourth in the most recent men’s rankings. Belgium were left out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in the group stage and have now dropped two spots in the FIFA men’s ranking.

England continue to sit fifth in the men’s rankings, while the Netherlands moved up to sixth from eighth.

Croatia, who reached the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, have broken into the top 10 of the FIFA men’s rankings after their impressive performance at the latest edition of FIFA’s flagship event. They have improved their position from 12th to seventh.

Italy, previously ranked seventh, dropped to eighth in the ranking, while Portugal remains ninth in the ranking.

Spain completes the top 10 in the latest FIFA men’s ranking. Spain has dropped two places, from eighth to tenth, after its elimination in the round of 16 in Qatar 2022.
