Gervonta “Tank” Davis is no longer the “regular” WBA lightweight champion. With Devin Haney relinquishing the “super” designation, Tank, who recently changed his name to Abdul Wahid, is now the WBA’s sole 135-pound king. He is expected to headline PBC’s March PPV card on Amazon Prime.

Martin Bakole is now the WBA’s number one ranked heavyweight. Previous #1 Deontay Wilder has been completely eliminated after his loss to Joseph Parker.

The WBA has officially renamed the division from 201-224 pounds to bridgeweight. Initially, the division was called super cruiserweight in the WBA rankings.

It looks like WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney could defend against Ryan Garcia next. Garcia vs. WBA champion Rolly Romero is on the back burner right now.

Happy 2024!
