Bonucci Insists Milik Winner Should Have Stood

Juventus news: Leonardo Bonucci has insisted that Arkadiusz Milik’s winning goal against Salernitana should not have been ruled out for offside.

Juventus was down by two goals at the end of the first half of the Serie A match against Salernitana. Antonio Candreva put Salernitana ahead in the 18th minute and Krzysztof Piatek doubled his lead just before half-time.

Juventus, however, worked their way back into the game with Gleison Bremer halving their deficit in the 51st minute of the match. Bonucci then restored parity in the 90+3 minute of the match.

Juventus thought they had won the match when Milik headed in the 90+5 minute. But the referee ruled out that goal after being advised by VAR to review the replay, ruling that Bonucci interfered with the play from an offside position.

Speaking after the match, Bonucci criticized the referee’s decision to rule their winner out for offside. The Italian defender insisted that the Salernitana goalkeeper would not have stopped Milik’s header even if he had not interfered with the play.

“The explanation was that I was in active play, but Sepe would never have caught it, my position did not interfere with his possible stop. That’s what the rule says,” Bonucci said after the match.

Bonucci also further noted that Candreva could have kept him out. “And then there’s the doubt that Antonio Candreva is keeping everyone in line,” Bonucci said.

Meanwhile, this was Juventus’ fourth draw in the 22/23 Serie A season. The Old Lady has so far played six games in the Italian top flight this season and has 10 points.
