Bonucci insists his Italian teammates deserve praise for their showing against EnglandJuvefc.com

Leonardo Bonucci has explained how they stopped England in their Nations League match last night and says the players deserve praise for their performance.

Italy won the game 1-0 thanks to an impressive goal by Giacomo Raspadori, assisted by Bonucci.

The defender has missed a few games for Juventus this season through injury, but was fit to start the game and delivered a sweet long ball, which Raspadori controlled well before letting it fly past the England goalkeeper.

That win means Italy continue their resurgence after missing out on the World Cup later this year, and England must wait to avenge their defeat in the Euro 2020 final.

After the match, Bonucci spoke to the press and said, as quoted by Tuttojuve:

“We thank the public. We started well, then we dropped a bit but we had control of the game, risking only in the final. We have to work on that to stay short and in the game, but today I think the team deserves a round of applause.”

Juve FC says

Italy have to reinvent themselves in international football, and the victory against England shows that Roberto Mancini is doing a good job at the helm.

The Azzurri would expect to continue to perform well and Bonucci will remain in the team if he maintains his level of performance at club level.
