Chelsea News: Mason Mount may receive a new contract with Chelsea, according to Todd Boehly, who liked a tweet about the midfielder’s extension at Stamford Bridge.
Currently under contract until 2024, the 23-year-old could soon sign a new deal as Boehly wants to lock him in after Armando Broja and Reece James signed new deals.
With the right-back signing his deal, the club’s new ownership has made it clear that securing the future of James and Mount, who are Cobham natives, is one of its main objectives.
They will now focus on Mount and, according to a report, talks have already been held with his agents in an effort to reach an understanding. In addition, there have been preliminary discussions about the renewal of Edouard Mendy’s goalkeeping contract.
Chelsea News: What did Romano say?
In June, Fabrizio Romano tweeted: “Mason Mount will be the next Chelsea player to talk about a new contract. Long-term discussions have already taken place and he is awaiting the latest and most comprehensive proposal from the club. Negotiations will resume soon.”
Boehly has since chosen to like the tweet, suggesting that Mount would soon agree to a new contract.
In 166 games for the Blues, Mount has 166 appearances, 30 goals and 31 assists.
When the England international won the Champions League while playing for the club in June, Mount also said he wanted to sign a new contract.
What did Mount and Tuchel say?
He said in a statement to The Athletic: “My contract ends in two years, and I am still very, very happy here. Hopefully soon those [contract] conversations will begin.
Before the Chelsea players left Cobham for the Croatian city in preparation for Tuesday’s opening Champions League group game against Dinamo Zagreb, James signed a six-year contract.
The 23-man traveling party included the England international, so the Chelsea manager was understandably pleased to learn that the Blues defender had signed a new contract.
For us, he is a really decisive player, Tuchel said, according to the Chelsea website. “He is an Academy player, and I have often emphasized how crucial he is to him.
