Bob Arum doesn’t think Team Anthony Joshua are eager to face Tyson Fury

With recent talk of a proposed fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua making a lot of headlines in the boxing world, Fury’s promoter Bob Arum tells Sky Sports he believes Team Joshua is faking interest in making the fight. Fight.

“I really don’t think the Joshua people are looking forward to fighting right now,” Arum said. “Because he’s been through a devastating loss and I think conventionally Joshua is going to want a couple of light touches to get back into the swing of things.”

Arum would go on to emphasize that Fury wants to be involved in another fight before the year is out and with Oleksandr Usyk ruling out a return before next year, Anthony Joshua was one of the biggest fights for Fury.

And as far as Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn is concerned, Arum says he thinks Hearn is just putting the public on the right foot, but he thinks there’s no point in them being willing to include Joshua with Fury after those two losses to Usyk.

Having said that, Hearn himself says that he has been involved in ongoing talks with Queensbury (Fury’s other co-promotional company) and says that they are certainly open to doing the fight and it’s more just a negotiation on the date of the fight, since that Fury prefers to fight. in November while Joshua would prefer to go in December.

Whether or not those differences become a permanent impasse remains to be seen, but as long as both sides continue to bicker, there is hope that a middle ground can be found.
