Juventus have long been fans of Chelsea midfielder Jorginho and were hoping to sign him for free at the end of this season.
The Brazilian-Italian had been on his radar since playing for Napoli before moving to London to join the Blues and entering the final year of his current contract with them.
The Premier League club have left late to try and retain him, however he remains a player they can’t lose.
A report on Tuttomercatoweb reveals that they have now opened talks with him about a contract extension as they try to ensure he stays with them beyond this season.
Jorginho has always prioritized staying at the London club, so this will be a huge blow for Juve and they probably need to turn their attention to another player now.
Juve FC says
Jorginho would be an excellent signing for us if we add him to our squad, but it now looks likely that the midfielder will remain in London.
He does well for the Italian national team and his previous experience on the Napoli books has prepared him to compete in Serie A.
We need to find another midfielder to add to our squad now rather than wait to see if the talks between him and Chelsea will succeed.
