Big Fight Prediction, Canelo V GGG

By Gavin Howie: We are just hours away from the trilogy between 2 fighters who will finally be remembered for their future trilogy that has yet to identify the clear victor.

Tonight will be the first time Gennady Golovkin has fought professionally at 168 pounds in a career spanning more than 15 years.

Eddie Hearn has stated that it could be the last roll of the dice for Golovkin in this trilogy, and he could prove him right if the previous scorecards continue.

We have two fighters who are at different crossroads in their careers. Canelo chasing greatness, after a below-par performance by his high standards, albeit against an undefeated world champion at a higher weight, was a task that was ultimately too much. The other, Gennady Golovkin, has the highest ko ratio in middleweight history (89.7%) and is considered to be on the slide.

Gennady Golovkin has been the most avoided fighter of this generation and has had a fighter in his sights for several years; He is looking for the gratification that he is the best, and Canelo is looking to end this rivalry once and for all.

Canelo Alvarez turned pro at age 15, and by comparison, Gennady Golovkin turned pro at age 24 after 350 amateur contests. Both fighters have been at different stages of their careers before this rivalry could begin.

This rivalry has matured more and more over time, and tonight is the third and most even match that could play one more fight depending on this result.

My prediction for this fight is: Triple G to win on points. I think Canelo has tried to achieve greatness, similar to Roy Jones Jr moving between weights, before taking off and regressing. The previous two fights have been wars, and this one will be no different, but I think there is one fighter who needs this for his legacy more than the other, and that’s why I think GGG will dig deeper to get the win.
