‘Best Striker in the World’

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised Manchester City striker Erling Haaland as the best striker in the world.

Haaland joined Manchester City in the 2022 summer transfer window and instantly hit the ground running in the Premier League side.

The Norway international has been sensational for the defending Premier League champions. He has already racked up 20 goals in just 13 appearances for Man City so far this season.

Haaland scored 15 of those in the Premier League, where he has appeared in just nine games. That includes three hat-tricks, scored against Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Manchester United.

Liverpool take on Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday in their next game. Klopp was asked how they would deal with the Norwegian’s threat.

Klopp lavished praise on the 22-year-old, describing him as the best striker in the world. The Liverpool manager said they have to make sure Haaland doesn’t get too many balls.

But Klopp also pointed out that marking Haaland with too many players could open a gap for other Manchester City players to exploit and score goals.

“Probably the best striker in the world, so we have to make sure he doesn’t get too many balls,” Klopp said.

“That is what we will try. Against City, if you close Haaland down with too many players, you open up gaps for all the other world-class players. It doesn’t make life any easier.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool have made a below-par start to the 22/23 season. The Merseyside side languish in 10th place in the Premier League points table with 10 points from eight games.

Are Liverpool out of the title race?

Liverpool are already 14 points behind Arsenal, but Klopp’s men have a game to play. They fell to a 3-2 loss to Arsenal in their previous league game. Speaking after that loss, Klopp ruled Liverpool out of the Premier League title race.

Meanwhile, Man City have had a stellar start to the season. They are undefeated in the league this season and are second in the points table. City have 23 points from their first nine games, with seven wins and two losses. They are one point behind Arsenal.

Man City will be looking to secure another three points and keep the pressure on Arsenal when they take on Liverpool in their next game. Meanwhile, the Reds will also be keeping an eye on the three points.
