Bernard Hopkins shoves Bill Haney, offers infamous ‘bathroom talk’

Bernard Hopkins is part of another video offering a ‘toilet talk’ before pushing Devin Haney’s father, Bill, to ringside on Saturday night.

Hopkins was filmed face to face with Haney Sr. as the pair discussed Ryan Garcia’s decision to avoid world champion Devin.

Similar to an incident at the WBA Convention late last year involving a spitting incident and promoter Sampson Lewkowicz, Hopkins wanted to talk to Haney in the bathrooms.

That usually means Hopkins has something to say away from the cameras. It’s generally a position no one wants to be in, least of all Bill Haney.

When Haney didn’t play and continued talking, Hopkins pushed Haney to the side with a shoulder charge. The whole debacle is now circulating on social media.

Bernard Hopkins and Bill Haney collide

In a clip captured by FightHub TV, Hopkins can be heard saying, “Let’s go to the bathroom. I want to talk to you in the bathroom. Oh really.”

Furthermore, those words were the same ones said to Elvis and Elliot Grant after the latter was accused of pawning a loogie in Lewkowicz’s face.

Haney asked, “Why don’t we talk right here?” – obviously wanted to stay where the cameras could see.

He added: “You talk when you do. You speak and you have to respect that. Then you talk where you want to talk.”

One fan who jokingly shared the video sent a warning saying: “Never go to the bathroom alone with an ex-con named Bernard. [Hopkins] – ever!”

After the heated exchanges began, Haney was seen goading Hopkins as he walked by. He said, “You follow my path, you follow my path. “Devin Haney is the best fighter in the world.”

At that point, Hopkins didn’t bite. But he was clearly upset that Haney was taking up his space. A few seconds later, the former world champion leaned down to push Haney out of the way.

Therefore, security had to intervene when Haney tried to ask Hopkins what he was doing. Finally, both of them were separated from each other.

Haney vs. Garcia

Haney was then filmed ranting at Ryan Garcia for changing his mind about the fight with Devin Haney.

A few hours earlier, García stated: “I notified my team that I am going on a different route. I intend to fight [WBA champion] Rolando Romero.

“I pray that my team supports me in this decision. Oscar, let this fight happen. That’s the play. A bigger fight and a bigger business.

“After what happens to Rollies, the fight with Haney will be there and it will be even bigger. Everyone is criticizing now. They will end up seeing that it was a better decision.

“Plus, he can go fight Richardson Hitchens. Make your 30k PPV purchases. I don’t need you, Dev, you need me.

“That’s how you deal with people who aren’t on your level in every way.”

Garcia vs Romero is unlikely to happen for a world title after Ismael Barroso won the interim WBA super lightweight title.

In addition, Barroso is expected to be appointed Romero’s mandate. However, an exception could be granted if Barroso accepts money to step aside in place of the winner.
