Benitez offers Gerrard advice after admitting he’s “the best I ever coached”

Rafa Benítez is still out of a job after the Everton job but has been giving advice to the young managers, one of whom happens to be Steven Gerrard.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the 62-year-old said: “I know Lampard but I know Gerrard much better. I was with him for six years and he was the best player I have ever coached.

“I say that because people asked me that. He was a great, great player, a fantastic player and now he is a young manager.

“So he will need some time, he will need to make some mistakes and do well like he did in Scotland. He is someone who has a great future and what I would tell them is to listen, that’s all. Listen to anyone and try to learn from anyone.”

After our former captain said so many times that Spanish was cold and never knew if our former boss loved him, this may come as a surprise to him personally.

As Liverpool fans, we are not surprised to hear this comment, but let’s hope that both men can be very successful in the coming years as managers.
