Benfica manager Schmidt sends a warning to JuventusJuvefc.com

Benfica will attack Juventus when they meet today in the Champions League, the coach of the Portuguese team has warned.

Roger Schmidt’s side arrive at the Allianz Stadium looking for a second win in as many UCL games after beating Maccabi Haifa in their first group match.

Juve lost their first game of the competition against PSG last week in Paris.

The Bianconeri know they must win this match and now they have gone three games without a win.

They dropped points against lowly Salernitana at the weekend, and that’s not a good way to prepare for a match like this.

Benfica will not make things any easier for them and Schmidt admits that he is not the favourite, but insists that his intention is to attack Juve.

He said, as quoted by Football Italia:

“They are struggling in Serie A at the moment, but we know they are capable of great performances in Europe. We believe in ourselves, that we can play at a high level and we will do our best.

“Every game is different, we are not the favorites here, but we have a good chance of getting a result. We want to be brave and do everything possible to get a result.

“We want to be attacking and show that we are up to the task.”

Juve FC says

Benfica will play with nothing to lose, and that won’t put as much pressure on them as it did on us.

We should be relaxed and play our game, but that doesn’t mean we should make a slow start and allow them to score against us first.
