Bellingham’s updated price-tag may heal Klopp hurt after Tchouameni

Jurgen Klopp and his recruitment team will be under no illusions as to the scale of the challenge that awaits them in the summer window if they commit to negotiating with Borussia Dortmund over the future of Jude Bellingham.

Still, if a report by Spanish outlet Marca is to be believed, that task will be made a little easier by the German team’s alleged asking price of around £87.6m for the teenager – a whopping drop (£44m, to be precise) from the £131.6m figure previously raised by The Athletic.

There is no questioning the fact that a considerable part of our struggles in this period could have been avoided if we had agreed the transfer of a top midfielder.

However, with the former Monaco man in favor of a move to the Spanish capital and reported offers from Bellingham and Federico Valverde unsuccessful, we simply had to make do with the available options, of which they are far from lacking in quality.

Regardless of whether or not the La Liga giants are confident that the Englishman’s move to the Bernabeu will be a formality, we shouldn’t rule ourselves out of the race, especially if the reported price is vaguely accurate.
