Bayern Munich director reacts to Josko Gvardiol rumours

Josko Gvardiol of RB Leipzig has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich in recent weeks. The Croatia international is currently among the most promising defenders in Europe.

He impressed with his performances during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Gvardiol was among Croatia’s best players as they finished third in the tournament. The 20-year-old defender played seven games during the tournament, scoring one goal.

Josko Gvardiol has also been a key player for the Red Bulls since the start of last season. He has played 65 games (in all competitions) for the German outfit so far, registering three goals and four assists.

Bavarian manager Hasan Salihamidžić has claimed that the club is not looking to sign a new centre-back amid rumors of Josko Gvardiol.

Bayern Munich manager responds to Josko Gvardiol rumors

In statements to the media, he said: “The signing of another central defender is not planned. We are well equipped in the center of the back with De Ligt, Lucas Hernández and Upamecano, three top players. We also have Josip Stanišić.”

Josko Gvardiol is one of the most sought-after defenders in Europe. Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid have shown interest in signing. Leipzig have reportedly received several inquiries about their availability in recent weeks.

However, Leipzig’s sporting director Eberl wants to keep him at the club. He recently said, “I am happy now that I can work with guys like him and I want to do it for more than half a year. Consequently, I expect him to play with us for a long time.”

Emiliano Martínez linked to a move to the Allianz Arena

According to Sky Sports, Bayern Munich are interested in signing Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez. The Bavarians see him as a replacement for Manuel Neuer, who will miss the rest of the season with injury.

Martínez impressed with his performances for Argentina during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He won the Golden Glove after keeping three clean sheets in seven games. The 30-year-old goalkeeper has also been a star for Aston Villa since joining from Arsenal in the 2022 summer transfer window. He has kept 30 clean sheets in 91 appearances (in all competitions) for the Birmingham side until the moment.

Aside from Martínez, Yann Sommer is another goalkeeper who has been linked with a move to the Allianz Arena in recent weeks.
