Barcelona Keeping an Eye on Milan Skriniar Contract Situation

La Liga giants FC Barcelona are keeping an eye on the contract situation of Slovakian international Milan Skriniar, who currently plays for Italian club Inter Milan.

Milan Skriniar joined the Zilina academy at a very young age. He later graduated from the Zilina academy and was promoted to the main team.

Shortly after his promotion, the defender was loaned out to ViOn Zlate Moravce. He spent a season at the club, and then returned to Zilina. After his successful loan spell, he had more opportunities with Zilina and soon cemented his place in the starting lineup. Finally, in 2016, Skarinar signed for the Italian club Sampdoria.

He only played one season for Sampdoria before joining Serie A giants Inter Milan for a fee of €20m. At Inter he became one of the best defenders in the world. Skarinar helped the Italian giants win a Serie A title, a Coppa Italia title and a Supercopa Italiana title.

Barcelona attentive to Milan Skriniar’s contract situation

Now, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are exploring the opportunity to sign the Slovak defender for free.

After a horrible last season, the Blaugrana made many signings to strengthen their squad. Their summer signings soon began to pay off and they got off to a great start to their La Liga season.

Barcelona have won seven of their first eight league games. They are currently in first position with twenty-two points from eight games. However, the transition is not yet complete.

Barcelona will still need more signings to become one of Europe’s elites, which can be seen in their recent performance in the Champions League. Now the Barcelona management knows this perfectly well and is already looking for high-profile free agents for next summer.

After being one of the Nerazzurri’s best players in recent years, Milan Skriniar’s contract is due to expire soon. Inter have already offered him a new contract. But the defender reportedly wants to leave the San Siro at the end of the season and does not want to sign a renewal contract.

At 27 years old, Skriniar has everything to succeed at Barcelona. On top of that, he will come in a free transfer. Hence the Blaugrana are very interested in him.

Now, obviously, Inter considers him a key player in their squad. They were reluctant to sell him during the last summer window when Paris Saint-Germain made a €50m offer.

But if they fail to renew their contract for next January, things will be very different. The defender will surely be pursued by many teams. Barcelona will have to beat them to secure a pre-contract.

The Blaugrana will play their arch-rival Real Madrid in their next game.
