FC Barcelona seeks to sign a substitute striker for Robert Lewandowski after the imminent departure of Memphis Depay to Atlético de Madrid.
Memphis Depay is set to leave FC Barcelona in the January transfer window, and the Dutchman is set to join Atlético Madrid. Atlético de Madrid has already reached an agreement with FC Barcelona for the transfer of Depay.
Memphis Depay, who joined Barcelona in the summer of 2021 for free, will sign a contract with Atlético Madrid until 2025, according to Fabrizio Romano. That means the Dutch international will sign a two-and-a-half-year deal with Atlético Madrid.
As part of the agreement, Atlético de Madrid will pay Barcelona a transfer fee of around 3 million euros. SPORT reports that Barcelona are looking to sign an attacker as a backup to main striker Robert Lewandowski following the imminent departure of Memphis Depay.

SPORT further reports that no names have surfaced as of now. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who left Barcelona for Chelsea earlier this season, has offered himself to the Catalan side. However, the option to re-sign Aubameyang was ruled out as the Gabonese striker is unable to re-sign this season.
Meanwhile, Memphis Depay has made just four appearances for Barcelona so far in the 22/23 season. Therefore, moving away from Barcelona makes sense for the Dutchman.

Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski, whom Barcelona signed in the summer transfer window, has been impressive for the club. The Polish attacker has amassed 20 goals and five assists for Barça in 22 games across all competitions.
