Baptism of Fire – Hearn lines up KO-loving Mexican star for Gary Cully

gary cully [14(8)-0] He looks set for a baptism of fire when he fights for the first time as a Matchroom fighter on October 29.

‘The Diva’ fills out a Katie Taylor card alongside Belfast light middleweight Caoimhin Agyarko at Wembley Arena in just over a month.

Sarto’s son made his Matchroom debut in March and made his way into the promotional powerhouse books with a knockout victory over former world champion Miguel Vazquez.

However, next month’s fight will be his first since officially teaming up with Eddie Hearn and company, and it looks like he’s not going to have an easy showing.

Hearn revealed he hopes to put Nass’s southpaw with lightweight great Angel Fierro [19(15)-1(0)-2] on a card that has a serious Irish interest.

‘Tashiro’ doesn’t come to the ring with the same experience or pedigree as Vazquez, but he is young, hungry and a serious puncher.

The Tijuana native has 15 knockouts in 19 wins, his record suggests he would be a danger at all times. On the other hand, he tasted defeat and drew his last fight against the kind of opponent that six-foot-plus, 135-pound Irish fighter Pete Taylor is expected to take down with no real problems.

???????? Gary Cully is a BIG problem in the 135-pound division. Many fighters have had problems with ???????? Miguel Vazquez, Cully dealt with him easily and stopped him in 5. #boxing Big Future Live On #DAZN. https://t.co/vfWTOCRWNd

Not to mention, the extremely confident 26-year-old hasn’t been shy about claiming he beats any fighter in the division, so Fierro shouldn’t be too daunting. In fact, it’s certainly a fight he would welcome and see as a stepping stone to the world level.

“Gary Cully in a tremendous fight,” Hearn told Boxing Social.

“We’re trying to make this fight against Angel Fierro, that’s a brilliant fight.”
