‘Bad news for Liverpool fans’ – Ismael Mahmoud weighs in on FSG takeover update

QIA has abandoned talks with Liverpool Football Club, which could mean a complete lack of partnership in the near future between the Reds and a Qatar-based entity, a journalist has posited.

Isamael Mahmoud tweeted his thoughts following Alex Miller’s announcement on the same social media platform of the investment group moving to Manchester United.

However, whether the absence of a deal between the Reds and a Qatar-based group is anything to be regretted is up for debate.

As for us here at Empire of the Kop, we have absolutely no interest in seeing a group or investor involved with Liverpool if there is a clear link to a regime with a questionable human rights record.

Whether that same group or individual is capable of catapulting us into the financial stratosphere occupied by the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Newcastle is simply completely irrelevant and should not be factored into our decision-making on the matter.

Of course, we want to see Jurgen Klopp get the backing he needs to address the clear flaws in our team, but it shouldn’t be at the cost of sacrificing club and city values.
