Arteta compares Saliba and van Dijk ahead of Liverpool’s trip to London

Liverpool head to the Emirates knowing we are up against a formidable opponent who have enjoyed a strong start to the campaign and Mikel Arteta was asked to compare William Saliba’s form to Virgil van Dijk.

Speaking to the press before the game, the 40-year-old said: “Wow, that’s a great decision. We are very happy with where he is at the moment.

“He is Saliba: he is nobody else, and he needs to make his own career.”

It was quite an unfair question for the Arsenal manager, but it’s clear he has respect for our number 4, even though he knows the French defender is playing exceptionally well at the moment.

With both teams coming into the game in a scoring-free frame of mind, then it may be up to the defenders to help their team secure the three points; let’s hope it’s the Dutch captain who comes out on top.
